Charity Auction – BICAchair & Make-A-Wish

ART as a way of fulfilling WISHES!

BICAchair defends as one of its values the social responsibility as a global duty, we take responsibility for all our choices, considering the impact they have on the community where we operate.

For this reason, we decided to create in partnership with Make-A-Wish Portugal a unique BICAchair to be auctioned to help make dreams come true for children who are going through moments of great difficulty.

To create a unique BICAchair we challenged Portuguese artist Pitanga to reimagine this new chair with over 60 years of history in her own style. A BICAchair that is vibrant, captivating and above all that reflects her colorful imagination.

Pitanga, one of Portugal’s most promising artists, aimed to give the distinguishing street chair an artistic expression linked to tradition, without forgetting design as the main creative engine. According to her, there is always a star that guides us in all our choices. All of them are beautiful, all of them come together in a dance to harmoniously build a strong and sustainable castle. The castle that is our history, our dreams, our life.
In an initiative that combines history, solidarity, and creativity, it made perfect sense for us to join forces with one of our favorite causes, Make-A-Wish, where creativity is also a driving force. The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant wishes to children and young people, aged 3 to 17, throughout the country, with serious, progressive, degenerative, or malignant diseases, giving them a moment of strength, joy, and hope. For a seriously ill child, seeing their wish come true means that nothing is impossible, it means regaining hope and the strength to keep fighting, it means being able to forget for a moment their illness and simply be a child.

September is Child and Youth Cancer Awareness Month and 70% of the applications from Make-A-Wish Portugal are from children with oncological diseases.

Through this auction, all the amount that was raised reverted to Make-A-Wish Portugal.

We want to express our gratitude to all who were involved in this action and to the winner of the auction who helped us to contribute to the realization of a child’s wish.
